Why this matters
Many South Carolinians face challenges accessing basic needs like stable housing, healthy food, and mental health or chronic disease services. These are known as non-medical factors that impact health, and they shape our well-being long before we seek medical care.
What we’ve built
To respond to this need, a multi-sector group of leaders developed the SC Roadmap—an initiative to align priorities, improve coordination, and drive action on key social needs.
With support from the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation and The Duke Endowment, a planning process from 2022 to mid-2023 created a shared vision. A formal governance structure emerged to move from ideas to action..
